I start with observation and stakeholder discovery. The real system lives in handoffs, workarounds, and competing constraints. I listen across the organization, make tradeoffs visible, and turn the shared picture into an architecture I can defend.
Discovery changes the architecture
At ZRT Laboratory, leadership favored a multi-year electronic-medical-records replacement. Discovery with research, receiving, operations, accounting, and customer-facing groups showed a broad replacement was not the only useful path.
I designed a bounded, two-month receiving pipeline for image classification, OCR, and transcription, moving manual transcribers toward QA, while treating reporting and data unification separately. It was stopped two weeks before launch, so I do not present it as shipped.
From independent practice to a team
I left my last engineering role in January 2026 and opened an independent practice to learn agentic delivery. Products were in production nine weeks later; six months in, the work was a broader suite. See selected projects for the proof.
I built the practice to go deep. Now I want to bring that experience into a team, where shared ownership and judgment can take it further.
How I lead
I lead by making problems and decisions legible. I bring product, operations, leadership, domain experts, and engineers into one conversation. I mentor through pairing, code review, clear expectations, and direct feedback.
The first 30 days
My first 30 days are for mapping people, systems, and decisions. I shadow real workflows, read the code and operating docs, then test one bounded improvement with the people affected. The goal: a clearer map, a useful result, and an honest next decision.
Off the clock
I managed and personally built a mountain home in Welches, Oregon, from excavation to certificate of occupancy. It is also a Home Assistant lab: telemetry, sensors, and solar integrations turn the house into a daily test environment.
I once jumped out of a perfectly cromulent airplane. Once was enough.
